One child dies every six seconds to malnutrition. Throughout the world, the lack of nutritious food is causing endless fatalities. In 2006, two and a half million children died of malnutrition in Africa, the continent most negatively affected by this growing world crisis. In this region, it is expected for a mother to witness at least one of their children die. Providing aid to various countries within Africa is an unconditional necessity, given its increasing population and number of affected infants. Decreasing the rate of malnutrition in Africa is not a simple task. The lack of clean water and other essential resources slow the distribution of current solutions. Recent medical advancements, however, have altered the ways that the solutions to severe malnourishment are perceived. Plumpy’nut, a specially formulated peanut butter concoction, is considered to be one of the most important medical advancements ever created to prevent and cure malnutrition. Its significance lies in its ability to be consumed without any preparation or special supervision, unlike other commonly used substances. For the affected African children, it is the equivalent of penicillin, as they are not able to acquire the milk, vitamins, and minerals their young bodies demand. Donations to Share the Blessing are directed solely towards the creation and distribution of Plumpy’nut, which can make the immediate difference between life and death for a young child in trying to survive in the deadliest of conditions.

You make the difference -- yes, you. No matter how large or small, any contribution will sustain a life, and it only costs a dollar a day to feed a child Plumpy'nut.
