Malnutrition

The World Health Organization estimates there are 178 million malnourished children across the globe, and at any given moment, 20 million of them are suffering from the most severe form of malnutrition. It is because of this that malnutrition contributes to 5 million annual deaths of children under 5 years of age. Only 3 percent of the 20 million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition receive the lifesaving treatment they need. The organization itself treated more than 150,000 children in 2006 and 2007 in 22 countries with nutrient-rich therapeutic and supplementary food.
